Recognizing that overall quality of life is of significance to all members of our community;
and that in a mobile society, living in the Columbus area is a choice based on economic opportunity
and quality of life, the CSG advocates for:
- infill and neighborhood reinvestment and development;
- transportation planning that recognizes the importance of pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods and provides for alternative modes of transportation;
- preservation or existing open spaces, woodlands, and rural landscapes;
- continued development of parks, greenways, and tree-lined urban streetscapes; ongoing tree plantings at entryways and throughout the city;
- the protection of our streams, the Chattahoochee River, watersheds, and wetlands;
- recognition and preservation of the region's archaeological and historic resources; and
- commercial and residential development that is compatible with a long-range vision for an economically vibrant, environmentally healthy, and culturally rich and diverse Columbus area.
